# Domain delete

## Description

Deletes the given domain at the registry. Domain deletion requests are carried out with a time delay and therefore you will always receive "command completed; action pending", as well as the **deletion** date in the [domain extensions](/en/api/epp-domain-delete/) as a response.

Note

-   To delete a domain on a particular date use the [deletion domain extension](/en/api/epp-domain-delete/).
-   The deletion date for a running domain deletion request (pendingDelete) can be inquired with the [domain info](/en/api/epp-domain-delete/) command and is returned within the [deletion domain extension](/en/api/epp-domain-delete/).

If a domain deletion is to take place shortly before the domain expiration date (2 days), it will be deleted on the domain expire date instead.
