# AutoDNS: Login, 2FA & API Keys

This article covers how to access AutoDNS, set up two-factor authentication, manage API keys, and what to do when account access is lost.

URL

Credentials

Username (typically your customer number or email) + password. Provided by InterNetX at account creation.

Context

If you manage multiple accounts or subuser contexts, select the correct context after login. API users: pass context via `X-Domainrobot-Context` header.

## Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Setup

**Account → Security → Two-Factor Authentication.** Enable TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) using an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, or any TOTP-compatible app).

Scan QR code

AutoDNS displays a QR code. Scan with your authenticator app. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm. 2FA is now active.

Recovery codes

Save the recovery codes provided during setup. These are one-time-use codes for accessing your account if you lose your authenticator device. Store them securely offline.

Login with 2FA

Enter username + password, then enter the 6-digit TOTP code from your authenticator app.

⚠ If you lose access to your authenticator device and do not have recovery codes, you must contact InterNetX support to reset 2FA. Identity verification will be required. This process may take 1-2 business days.

## Password Reset

Self-service

Click "Forgot password?" on the login page. Enter your registered email address. A reset link is sent. Link valid for 24 hours.

Not receiving email?

Check spam/junk folder. Verify the email address matches your account registration. If still not received, contact support.

Password requirements

Minimum 8 characters. Must include uppercase, lowercase, and a number or special character. Passwords expire per your account policy settings.

## API Keys & Authentication

API base URL

Authentication

Basic Auth: `Authorization: Basic {base64(user:password)}`. Include context header: `X-Domainrobot-Context: {context_id}`.

Demo/OT&E

Use context `1` with header `X-Domainrobot-Demo: true` for testing. Production: context `4`.

Rate limits

API calls are rate-limited per account. Contact support if you need higher limits for bulk operations.

## Account Recovery: Employee Has Left

If the person who managed your AutoDNS account has left the company and you no longer have login credentials:

1. Contact InterNetX support with your customer number and company name.
2. Provide proof of identity: company registration, authorised signatory confirmation, and the domain(s) or customer number associated with the account.
3. InterNetX verifies your identity and resets the account credentials to a new authorised contact.

Timeline

Allow 1-3 business days for identity verification and credential reset.

ℹ To prevent access loss: ensure at least two people in your organisation have AutoDNS credentials. Set up a shared password manager entry for emergency access. Enable 2FA on all accounts and store recovery codes in a secure company location.
