## Eligibility & Restrictions

Restricted to citizens, residents, or organisations established in the EEA, Vatican, San Marino, or Switzerland. Entity type must be declared (1=natural person, 2=Italian company, 3=freelancer, 4=non-profit, 5=public org, 6=other Italian, 7=foreign EU entity).

## Registration

1 year only; multi-year not supported. Nameservers must pass NicIT DNS check BEFORE create or transfer. SOA record must match first nameserver. Two different static IPs required. Zone updated 12x/day.

> Nameservers must pass NicIT DNS check before registration. Incorrect/incomplete registrant data results in non-delegated/inactive domain; deleted after 30 days in non-delegated state.

## Transfer Procedure

Auth code required. Gaining registrar initiates. Nameservers must be correctly configured before transfer. Transfer completes within 24 hours once nameserver check passes. No mandatory 60-day ICANN lock.

## Registrant Change

Registrant change completed real-time. New registrant must have valid NicIT contact properties (entity type + identification number + nationality). Ineligible registrant changes may be refused or revoked by registry.

## Renewal & Deletion

1-year registration only. After expiry: short grace period, then redemption. DNS deleted after 30 days if nameserver check fails.

## Restore / Redemption Grace Period

Standard redemption period after expiry. Domain deleted if DNS requirements not met within 30 days post-registration.

## WHOIS / Privacy

WHOIS privacy available; registrant can consent or withhold publication via 'consentForPublishing' field. For non-natural persons (companies), consentForPublishing must be TRUE.

## Known Error Codes & Notes

- code: Non-delegated status, desc: Nameserver DNS check failed. Domain inactive and will be deleted after 30 days.
- code: Bad WHOIS procedure, desc: NicIT contacts registrant to correct data; non-response leads to revocation.
- code: Entity type required, desc: Must declare entity type (1-7) at registration. Codice Fiscale required for Italian individuals (16 chars); VAT for organisations.
