Managed backup server
We recommend the Managed Backup Server as an add-on for additional backup of bare metal servers or reseller clouds.
Your servers (Bare Metal Server or Reseller Cloud) are backed up at file level and as a snapshot based on your desired backup strategy. Restoring the entire server or individual instances takes just a few minutes, regardless of size and data transfer.
The backup strategy can be defined individually, for example with the following restore points:
- Backup hourly, with a retention time of 1 hour
- Backup daily at midnight, with a retention period of 14 days
You will receive a weekly automated e-mail on the status of the snapshots created.
The restore of individual VMs or the entire host system can be ordered via support@internetx.com and, if necessary, also imported to another system.
If desired, a backup space can be set up on the system where backups can be made at file level using FTP, SFTP and FTP-S. A user (including password) is created for this purpose. For security reasons, access to the system is only possible from the InterNetX IP range. Other fixed IP addresses (e.g. Office IP) can be enabled on request.
The system is integrated into the existing VLAN. An external IP address is required.
The size of the backup server depends on the backup strategy. We recommend estimating at least twice the net storage capacity of the host systems to be backed up.
Advantages at a glance
- Dedicated hardware: external system in Raid 1 or Raid 6
- Various capacities available: 2 TB
- Individual backup strategy
- Backup via snapshots - restore the entire VM within minutes, regardless of the amount of data and size of the server/instance
- Secure access: by default, sharing is only possible from the InterNetX IP range (additional sharing of office IPs possible on request)
Scope of management
- Initial setup of snapshots according to customer specifications
- Hardware monitoring in the form of system service monitoring
- Installing any firmware updates
- Setting up users for access
