Eligibility & Restrictions

Strictly restricted. Eligible registrants: (1) entity physically located in Saudi Arabia; (2) Saudi nationals or Premium Residency holders; (3) entity with registration/license from a Saudi authority; (4) owner of a trademark or trade name registered in Saudi Arabia. Administrative contact must be local to Saudi Arabia. SLDs: .com.sa (commercial), .net.sa (ISPs), .org.sa (non-profit), .edu.sa (educational), .med.sa (medical), .sch.sa (schools), .gov.sa (government), .pub.sa (general use). Arabic IDN (.السعودية) supported. Domain name must match or closely relate to registrant's name, trademark, or activities. Individuals: can register personal names (first or family) under .sa or .pub.sa only.
Handled by special arrangement due to high complexity. Complex eligibility: Saudi presence/registration mandatory. All documentation subject to SaudiNIC review. No application forms accepted; official documents must be submitted. Processing: ~2 working days.
Content restrictions: activities or content against Islamic religion or Saudi laws (pornography, illegal drugs, alcohol, gambling, IP piracy) result in immediate domain revocation. Domain names contrary to public morality or national security are reserved/prohibited.

Registration

Registry allows up to 10 years. We currently offer 1 year. All registration requests subject to SaudiNIC review. SaudiNIC retains right to request additional documentation at any time. Required information: full name of registrant (as in official documents), national address, telephone, email, and admin contact details (must be Saudi-local). Special TLDs (.med.sa, .org.sa, .sch.sa, .edu.sa) require SaudiNIC approval within 2 working days.

Transfer Procedure

Auth code transfer. Admin contact verification required. Transfer only possible under active registration. SaudiNIC may request documentation to verify transfer legitimacy. Processing subject to registry review.

Registrant Change

Manual approval process. Updated documentation required. Admin contact change requires notarized and legalised documents (up to Saudi Consulate level for foreign entities). SaudiNIC reserves right to reject if non-compliant.

Known Error Codes & Notes

  • Saudi presence mandatory: Entity must be physically in Saudi Arabia, or hold Saudi registration/license/trademark. No exceptions.
  • No restore: No RGP. 30-day late renewal window only. After that: permanent deletion.
  • Admin contact local: Admin contact must be local to Saudi Arabia. Mandatory.
  • Company stamp mandatory: All official letters and authorization documents must bear company stamp.
  • Content restrictions: Islamic morality and Saudi law apply. Violations = immediate revocation.
  • No resale: Domain name registered for purpose of selling/renting/giving away to others results in all registrant's domains being revoked immediately.
  • Arabic IDN: .السعودية supported. Request letter must contain domain in full Arabic characters (not punycode).
